Dr. David Ihrke
DVM
Dr. Dave, as we call him here, is our Medical Director and hospital owner. He has been practicing veterinary medicine for over 25years. He took over the operation of Colonial Manor Animal Hospital in 2007 from our founder, his father, Dr. George Ihrke. Dr. Dave attended Carleton College and received a BA in 1991 and University of Missouri Columbia, where he obtained his DVM in 1995. His special interests include Orthopedics, Ultrasound, and Endoscopy. Dr. Ihrke prides himself on being continually up to date with the latest advances in veterinary medicine and equipping our hospital with the best technology available to care for our patients.
Dr. Julia "Jewels" Roque
Dr. Jewels is a Kansas girl at heart, growing up just outside of Kansas City. She graduated from Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2012 and completed an internship at the University of Tennessee in 2013. She has been working as a general practitioner in the Chicagoland area since 2013. She has a special interest in promoting feline and canine oral health. She also enjoys soft tissue and oral surgery as well as ultrasonography. She completed fear-free certification training.
In addition to her other interests, Dr. Jewels has a passion for international veterinary relief. She has volunteered for World Vets to promote animal welfare, training, and disaster relief to underserved countries throughout the world, including the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Honduras, and Nicaragua. She has also volunteered with Rural Area Vet Services.
Dr. Jewels loves traveling, spending time outdoors, and staying active. She has two human children- Jonathan and Madeline, and one fur-child Leo, the Labrador retriever. She is French-American and speaks fluent French. Her passions include wallyball, volleyball, international travel, cheering on the Kansas State Wildcats, and teaching. She is especially looking forward to more Superbowl wins by her beloved KC Chiefs!
Tina Medland
Tina joined our practice in April of 2021. She has 18+ years of experience in veterinary practice management and is currently pursuing her Certified Veterinary Practice Manager (CVPM) certification through the Veterinary Hospital Manager Association (VHMA). Tina feels one of the best parts of this profession is working closely with pets and the people who love them. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, paper crafting, and traveling with her husband and dogs. She also co-owns/breeds and trains her Golden Retrievers for both obedience and conformation . She currently has two dogs, mother and daughter…Banner and Faith. Tina is very proud to be working with a dedicated team of professionals that are like a second family… and glad to call Colonial Manor Animal Hospital her second home!
Ashley H.
Ashley joined our practice in 2019 as a veterinary technician intern. She attended the Vet Tech Institute at Fox College and obtained an Associate’s in Applied Science Veterinary Technology. She obtained her CVT license in 2019 and became a permanent Vet Tech at Colonial Manor Animal Hospital. Away from work, Ashley enjoys spending time with her family which includes her husband, a new baby girl and her four dogs.
Taylor B.
Certified Veterinary Technician
Taylor joined our practice in 2015. She attended the Vet Tech Institute at Fox College and obtained an Associate in Applied Science Veterinary Technology. In April of 2021, she became a certified veterinary technician with the state of Illinois. Her interests outside of work include spending time with family and friends. Taylor currently has three dogs Trixie, Pookie, and Charlotte.
Haley M.
Veterinary Technician
Haley joined our practice as a full-time Veterinary Technician in July of 2022. She completed the Veterinary Technician program at JJC and graduated in May 2022. She completed her externship at VSMR specialty practice from March through May 2022, and prior to that, she worked at a very busy emergency practice as a technician while completing her coursework. Haley is currently pursuing her Illinois State Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) license. In her free time, Haley loves going hiking with her two dogs Blaze and Aspen, and also enjoys reading and weight lifting.
Samantha F.
Veterinary Assistant
Samantha joined our practice in 2021. She is pursuing an Associate’s Degree in Science at Moraine Valley Community College and plans to attend Vet Tech school to further her education and skills. She has a strong interest in Veterinary orthopedic medicine and physical rehabilitation. Samantha has had a love for animals her whole life, and now her passion is to work with them! Outside of work, she enjoys running and spending time with friends. She currently has a dog and two cats.
Cherish P.
Veterinary Assistant
Cherish joined our practice August of 2023 as a Veterinary Assistant. She is currently enrolled in the Penn Foster online Veterinary Technician program. Cherish hopes to specialize in helping dogs with behavioral issues, specifically helping shelter and rescue dogs that display aggressive behavior. She will also be taking Fear Free Certification training through the Fear Free Pets Organization as part of her training at Colonial Manor Animal Hospital. Cherish has one 12 year old dog named Ariel, who is her pride and joy!
Michelle P.
Michelle joined the Colonial Manor Animal Hospital team in August of 2021. She is currently attending Moraine Valley College to obtain an Associates Degree in Arts. Michelle’s favorite animal is a rabbit and she currently has a five-year-old bunny named Kuskus and a three-year old cat named Pumpkin. Michelle’s artwork and animal puns can be found in our exam rooms here at CMAH. She always makes us smile!
Allie W.
Allie joined the VSMR team in December 2021 as a part-time Client Service Representative. She recently completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science from UIUC, as well as a certificate in wildlife and fishery conservation. Allie returned to Colonial Manor in August 2024 as a full-time Veterinary Assistant. She would like to someday work in wildlife veterinary medicine. She has two cats at home and outside of work she likes to spend time with family and friends and go hiking. We are so happy to have her back as part of the Colonial Manor family.
Lynn M.
Lynn joined our practice in June 2021 but came to us with many years of veterinary client service experience. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and her twins, going hiking, biking, and going/listening to cover bands. One of the things she enjoys most about working at Colonial Manor Animal Hospital is building relationships with clients and their pets. Lynn currently has two dogs, Blaze and Aspen.
Heather C.
Heather started working at Colonial Manor Animal Hospital in September of 2023 and has quickly become a valuable member of our team. She says one of the reasons she loves working here is because she enjoys being part of a great team that supports and helps each other like family. Outside of work, Heather enjoys WWE and attending wrestling shows. She also enjoys working out and traveling to Wisconsin in her free time. Currently Heather has a Boxer/Pittie mix named Remy, who her family rescued three years ago and grew up with six Boxers. Heather also has two special Pitties in her life named Bella and Zeke.
Jill W.
Jill joined our practice in 2012. Outside of work, she enjoys golf and traveling to Michigan, going to the beach, and taking long walks. Jill is a wealth of knowledge for the Client Service Team. She enjoys meeting new clients and pets and building relationships with them. Her family recently grew by four legs, when she adopted an adorable five-month-old Shihtzu mix puppy, named Josie!
Meadow K.
Seasonal Veterinary Assistant
Meadow joined our practice in 2020. She will be attending Southern Illinois University in the Fall of 2021, on a pre-vet track. Meadow wants to be a Wildlife Conservation Veterinarian and will be studying Zoology Wildlife Biology for her Bachelor’s in Science Degree. In her free time, Meadow plays Tuba in a marching band and has been studying Chinese for the past four years, and hopes to minor in Chinese in college.
