Pet Wellness at Colonial Manor Animal Hospital

Maintain Your pet’s
Overall health

It is natural for animals to mask their pain when they are not feeling well. They do this to avoid their natural predators perceiving them as weak. So sometimes, it can be difficult for you to notice when your animal is sick. Regular pet wellness exams are the only way to know for certain if your pet is alright and healthy. During these visits, our team will spend time examining your pet from nose to tail.

First Steps
Our pet wellness exams begin with a full examination of your pet from nose to tail looking for anything out of the ordinary. We will examine your pet’s skin and fur looking for any lumps, rashes, or missing patches of fur. If our vets find anything suspicious we may run some additional tests to determine if something more serious is developing. If we do find a medical issue, we will discuss the test results and provide several treatment options. As with any medical condition, the earlier a problem is detected and treatment begins, often the better the outcome will be.
Pet Dental Care
Your pet’s dental health is vital, which is why we perform a dental checkup during our wellness exams. Bad breath, bleeding gums, discolored teeth, drooling, or even missing teeth are all warning signs that your pet requires dental checkup. There are many diseases and medical issues that begin as a dental problem and if they are addressed early and checked often, we can prevent them from developing into something more serious.
Preventative Measures
Our vets can offer expert advice on what you should do at home in-between visits. Will provide dietary tips on what food and nutrients your pet needs to grow as well as when to change the diet as your pet ages.

Vaccines are also a very important factor to consider when it comes to veterinary care. The vet will use the wellness visit as an opportunity to administer whatever vaccines are needed according to the schedule that has been set for your pet. Some vaccines are mandatory and others are a good idea; the vet will make recommendations based on your pet’s unique circumstances.
